About K Dog:
I am a working theatre major now studying in college hoping to become a working actor one day. I am hoping to act on the stage in regular plays and musicals and hopefully also work in the media as well as voice acting. I adore movies and classify myself as a movie buff who enjoys just about every kind of movie genre. However, I, myself, have limitations. I guess if I had to pick one genre I don’t like it would have to be horror because I just don’t like to be scared and kept awake at night (heh, yeah I get scared easily). I am very passionate for the art of the performing arts but I also love to write my own creative stories on my free time because I just love the power of a great story and how it can inspire and entertain everyone on so many emotional levels. I have so many favorite movies, books, video games, and TV shows, and there are just so many I want to mention and I wouldn’t even be close to mentioning all of my favorites.
I have an interest in games whether they be RPGs, platformers, adventures, or even artistic indie games. I am a weird gamer because I don’t play games to have fun, I play games to experience them. I play games to put myself in a different perspective and enjoy things through some game creators minds while exploring my own imagination. I like open world games but love storytelling which makes me not the biggest fan of Rock star games but more of an Atlus or Bioware kind of guy. If you want an objective literal critique on games leave that to GMS, my partner, but to me I usually look at things more sub textually due to my theatre background. I have grown up with games ever since the 90’s. I am a true nerd, passionate if you will.
TV is something that I love for it puts me in a great mood and challenges me mentally so my favorites usually go from relaxing TV shows to very thought provoking TV shows. I also love Anime. TV is the thing that always brings me and my brother closer together as well as get me in a good mood daily.
Movies are always something that I love to do, but I am more of an old movie goer than a new movie goer. In other words I don’t like too many new movies and actually prefer the older ones, making me a sort movie buff. I don’t like too many action movies are comedies that are just plain ridiculous, Will Ferrell movies, but I love movies that are surreal, funny, and just have a fun but genuine feel to it. I like most of the movies through the 70’s and the 90’s. Before any of this time period i am usually not comfortable with any other movies. I have a range of favorite directors and am usually someone who is open when I see a movie making me able enjoy action movies from time to time. David Lynch is my favorite director, Michael Bay my least favorite, do the math.
Besides watching, playing, and reading stuff, I also take an interest in psychology, philosophy and playing the piano. I love the psychology works of Carl Jung, and some books related to symbolic Alchemy. I also love the I Ching and love art especially done by my uncle, Paul Jenkins, who is an artist that actually based off the main character in Unmarried Woman. I am a more subjective childish reviewer but I can be critical when I need to be. I am usually not negative with my writing and am always open to any new ideas. I am very excited to work on this blog with the Great Mighty Steve, and I hope to see many of you viewers. Thank you, and enjoy the blog.
About the Great Mighty Steve:
I’m a junior in high school who’s single and ready to mingle!!! Just kidding about the second part. Let’s see…I like drawing, reading, playing games, and watching movies/TV. That’s pretty much what I do with my life, besides school. I aim to be a successful doctor, but who knows where the ever winding road of life will take me?
I love music as well. My favorite solo artist is David Bowie, my favorite band is Queen. However, I also enjoy the voice talents of Elton John, the Beatles, Green Day, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Journey, Led Zeppelin, Rammstein, Styx, Disturbed, Billy Joel, Josh Groban, Lady Gaga, Peter Gabriel, and Boston, among others. I enjoy classical music too, most notably Tchaikovsky and Beethoven.
With regards to movies, my three favorite movies are The Godfather, The Sting, and A Clockwork Orange. Any one of these three movies can be my favorite at any given point in time, they’re interchangeable. Other than that, I like such classics as Dracula, Dr. Strangelove, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Ghostbusters, James Bond (especially On Her Majesty’s Secret Service), The Matrix, Terminator, Rocky, Casablanca, The Devil Wears Prada (don’t judge), Godzilla, Alien, Lion King, Toy Story, the list could go on forever.
Oh, videogames. Where do I even begin? My favorite game is Majora’s Mask easily. My favorite game series is Mario. Other than that, I like the Mother series, Metroid, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Doom, Resident Evil, Pikmin, Castlevania, Mega Man, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, Kirby, Street Fighter, Pokémon, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Conker’s Bad Fur Day, the list goes on and on.
On to books. My favorite is The Great Gatsby. Other than that, I like To Kill a Mockingbird, A Song of Ice and Fire series, Cat’s Cradle, 1984, Da Vinci Code, Taming of the Shrew, Romeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar, Harry Potter, Hunger Games, I really can’t think of any more right now.
I don’t watch much TV, but I LOVE Game of Thrones. My favorite part is when Tyrion slaps Joffrey in the face.
I love anime and manga, but as you fellow bloggers will soon find out, my partner in crime and I are of different opinions. K Dog prefers anime because of his love for theater and movies, while my love for art inclines me toward manga. However, I love and embrace both. My favorite manga is Dragon Ball, but I also like Deathnote, Bleach, Naruto (though I don’t like Bleach or Naruto now, I like the older sagas better), Neon Genesis Evangelion, Vampire Hunter D, Lone Wolf and Cub, and Samurai Executioner. That said, my favorite anime is Neon Genesis Evangelion aka best anime ever aka WAY better than the manga. I also like Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, Bleach, Pokémon, and YuGiOh.
Well, that’s pretty much all about me. Catch all you guys soon, and remember, “I’m NOT gonna throw my shit at you!”
